For five days you'll step into a historic English estate surrounded by countryside, creativity, and a group of photographers who understand the journey you’re on.

You’ll create editorial work designed to elevate your portfolio immediately, have meaningful conversations about your business with experienced educators, and connect with a community that reminds you why you started doing this in the first place.

Meet your hosts.

We created The Retreat because it’s the workshop we always wished existed.  When we started out in photography, so much of the industry felt like you had to figure things out on your own. Information was guarded. Access was limited. And too often workshops felt more like performances than real learning environments.

So when we started hosting The Retreat, we made a promise to ourselves about what it would be. No gatekeeping, no egos and no day passes.

Just a small group of photographers, a beautiful environment to create in, and a full week where our focus is entirely on you.  We’re there with you the whole time. Shooting alongside you. Answering questions. Talking through ideas. Sitting down for honest conversations about the real challenges that come with running a photography business.

Every part of this retreat is something we’ve intentionally built to create the kind of experience we wish we had.  One where you feel welcomed, supported, inspired, and genuinely invested in.

Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about photography.  It’s creating an environment where you feel confident, encouraged, and equipped to go home and build the business and creative life you’ve been working toward.  And we’re incredibly grateful to be part of that journey with you.

Built in 1710 and modelled after Buckingham Palace, Hinwick House is a historic Queen Anne estate set on 38 acres of English countryside. With grand staircases, historic architecture, expansive gardens, and peaceful countryside surroundings, it feels like stepping into another era.

It’s the kind of place where every corner invites creativity and every setting elevates your photography.

For five days, this enire estate becomes our creative playground.

Recently ranked #8 worldwide for wedding photography, Gary Evans is a passionate educator pushing himself to create award winning images for his clients. Originally from Cardiff, Wales, Gary currently lives and works in Ontario, Canada.  Gary's passion for a rich client experience easily translates to his students where his "no gatekeeping" approach sees others exceed their own expectations and reach new heights.  His goal is pass along the knowledge and passion that has given him the life he loves.

Do I need to be super experienced / pro-level to join?

What gear should I bring?

What about travel?

Not at all. While many attendees already have experience, this retreat is also designed for ambitious photographers who are ready to level up both creatively and in business

Bring whatever you shoot with comfortably. We’ll have multiple styled setups and educators to guide lighting, posing, and technique regardless of your kit.  We'll also provide you with helpful guides of what we recommend bringing in our facebook group exclusively for attendees.  You can also share gear with others who shoot your brand.

Airfare and transfer from the airport is not included, but once you get there, we have you covered. We partner with a TICO-certified travel professional (Northstar Travel) to make booking easy, safe and secure.

Can I bring someone who isn’t a photographer?

What if I change my mind / need to cancel?

The deposit is non-refundable. Final payment is also 100% non-refundable after June 1, 2026. (We encourage participants to consider travel insurance.)  If you find you can't come, you can always find a replacement attendee to fill your spot.

Yes! You can bring a non-photographer guest for $2,500 USD (includes accommodation, meals, and the group excursion).  They'll be included in all the fun and there's so many areas they can chill at the villa when we're busy.

What kind of photography business education will I get?

You’ll have real hands on experience with all our educators where you can ask them any questions and have meaningful conversations to push you and your business forward.  There's no gatekeeping here. We provide a balance of hands on shooting plus some education sessions.
